A family owned and operated business, The McIlhenny Company has been manufacturing TABASCO® Sauce on the same site on Avery Island, Louisiana since 1868.

TABASCO® sauces are distributed in over 160 countries, sold to consumers as well as within the food service industry. Originally created by Edmund McIlhenny, TABASCO® Original Pepper Sauce is made with only three ingredients – vinegar, red peppers and salt.

Every bottle of TABASCO® Sauce is bottled on Avery Island using handpicked peppers that have been matured for three years in white oak barrels.

Stuart Alexander & Co. launched TABASCO® in the Australian market in 2000 growing the brand to become a household name. Over 3 million bottles of TABASCO® Sauce were sold in Australia in 2015 predominately in grocery and HoReCa channels.

Did you know?

Every single pepper that goes into TABASCO® Sauce comes from seeds descended from the original seeds planted by Edmund McIlhenny in the 1860s.
